Celebrating 25 Years This Week on Northern Lights: The New Age Show
On April 30, 2001, a new show named Northern Lights took to the virtual airwaves. It was a program designed to present a mix of New Age, Ambient, Smooth Jazz, and World Fusion music among others in a live and interactive format.
Over time, things changed. What started out as a one-hour show quickly expanded to two hours. Certain styles of music and other elements were dropped in order to give the show a more consistent sound. But one thing has remained the same after all this time: Northern Lights is still a place you can tune to when you need to get away from all the stress around you.
This week, we’re celebrating the show’s 25th anniversary, and we look forward to you joining us! You’ll hear how the debut broadcast sounded in 2001, along with music that was played during that first show. You’ll learn how the show came to be, and we’ve got some great new music lined up as well.
Northern Lights can be heard every Friday at 0:00 UTC (or Thursday evening in the Americas) on The Global Voice. For more information about the show, visit its official page.
